Showers, Weddings and Parties!

For the next 3 months 3 of my very good friends will be getting married so you know what that means.....bridal showers, bachelorette parties and the wedding. Last weekend was Becca's shower and this past Saturday was Dianna's shower and bachelorette party. Not to mention next weekend is her wedding, so I have a very busy few months ahead of me. The shower was in Ivanhoe and the bachelorette party was at Becca's house and man did we have a great time!! The shower was great and she had a wonderful turnout and the bachelorette party was even more fun.
It started with a cowboy theme and everyone in white except the bride-to-be. When we first got there it was a social hour and time to catch up with friends we had not seen in a while. Then we went right into a sit down dinner which was homemade pasta alfredo (Dianna's favorite). She then opened all her fancy gifts and had to guess who they were from and then Steph and Becca asked her soon to be husband 20 questions and Dianna had to guess what the answers where. Once all that was done with Al Steffes took us on an hour long hay ride and man was that fun!!! We played a card game and the loosing team took a jello shot and then we stopped for some pictures in a sunflower field (I have never seen one before) and of course a bathroom break.
It was a great weekend and here are a few pictures!!

Great Entertainment

One of my great friend's is getting married in two weeks and since she left SDSU I have only been able to see her twice, one of those times was for our 6 year class reunion. As soon as she was done with college she moved to California and has been delivering babies every since. Well the good news is that she has moved back into this area (Minneapolis to be exact) and she is home now in Ivanhoe until after her wedding. So last night I invited her and her husband to be along with a few other people over to have supper. Becca was unable to make it since she is now a Volleyball coach for Lincoln HI and Kathy also did not make it because she is 8 months pregnant and is now on bedrest until her August 18th due date. So to make the night it was Dianne, Jeff, Steph, Anne and myself but we must not forget Trevor.

We had a great time!!!! It was so good to see Dianna again and to hear about her experiences in California. For supper I made us homemade Lasagna, garlic cheesebread, fresh fruit with a yogurt dip and a vodka slush. Thanks again for coming over girls and Jeff.

Here is the bride to be and her soon to be husband

Where have I been?

Where the heck have I been you might ask?? Well since SDSU was done with school last Friday I moved half of my office over to the middle of campus where I will work for the summer months. Since my computer has been in route I have not had time to update my blog. ARAMARK is getting a new computer system for inventory, ordering and menus so another manager and I are running our computer side by side all summer to make sure the system goes in properly (lots and lots of work).

One of the perks of my summer office is the HUGE window I have right next to my computer....it is awesome!! I get to see what the weather is doing and what is happening on campus. My office at Medary does not have a window so I had no clue what I was missing until I had one.

PS...look at what my little man gave me for Mother's Day.....what a sweetie!!

Glasses

Well I have been with Aramark for 2.5 years now and we have great insurance. So I decided to get an annual eye check-up because I have never had one in my life. The eye doctor told me that I have better then 20/20 vision but since I am on the computer all the time the muscle in the back of my eye is working overtime and that could eventually be bad news some day. So to solve the problem he gave me a prescription for glasses only for when I am on the computer. I picked a pair out and they told me they would be in this Friday. Well I got a call today and they are in, I am wearing them right now and it is taking sometime to get used to but I think they will be alright.

YEAH!

I am one happy person today, I did not have to report to the court house for jury duty!! Last night I called in like I was supposed to and they told me that the case had been settled outside of court and we did not need to report!! Yeah!

Clerk of Courts

Well yesterday when I got home I opened up the mail and found a letter from the clerk of courts and sure enough it was a letter to me saying that I have to report for Jury Duty at 8:45am on Oct 10 at the Brookings Court House. My current term is from 10/1/07 through 12/31/2007.

When they ask me all the questions during my interview I am really going to fib and tell them the things that they do not want to hear so then they can say, "oh well I guess you can go". I bet it really does not happen that way. I can not believe this has happened to me!

Juror Summons

Most people always think few certain things will ever happen to them. For example our accounts payable lady at work has been summons THREE times to appear in court as a juror. To me that is crazy but I guess some people have luck of the draw, the reason I say this is because that same lady also won $50,000 last year on a powerball ticket for matching all the numbers except the powerball and then she also power played in and the number was 5 so you take $10,000 times 5 = $50,000.

The moral of my story is that last night when I got home I opened up the mailbox and found something I did not ever think that I would find......a Juror Summons to ME!!! They sent me a form to fill out and asked me a million questions and said once I filled this sheet out and sent it back in they would let me know if I was the one that they had chosen. EVERYONE better cross there fingers and hope that I am one that does not get picked. I do not mean this in a bad way because yes I am a registered voter it is just that IF I get called it will be from 10/1/07 - 12/31/07 if the trial lasts that long. And also some of the cases around here are disturbing, like a babysitter who hurts little kids or a young boy who seriously hurt his mom. I do not want to be the one to decide what should happen to that person in the next month or year. Do you know what I mean??

Happy Birthday to ME

Yes it is true today is my birthday......I am 1/4 of a century old (as Diane would say) otherwise known as 25! I can not believe that I am getting this old, it just seems like yesterday that I was 13 and could not wait to drive and leave the house and now looking back I wish I was 13 again. Well today is not only my birthday but it is also my best friend Marty's birthday AND her husband Jeremy's birthday....holy crap I know that it is hard to believe! When I first met Marty and Jeremy I did not believe them and I had them prove it to me by having them show me there driver's license....yep they were telling the truth. Yesterday was Trevor's party and afterwards
Dennis and Diane took Trevor home with them so I could go out and celebrate at midnight with Jeremy and Marty. It was also the motorcycle ride through downtown Brookings last night (this is where they ride motorcycles through a bar) so we went down and checked out the festivities. We thought it would only be approiate to take a picture of 3 of the birthday kids on a motorcycle. (Jennifer note the purse on the right in the first picture) Then while in a bar we ran into another one of there friends and we found out that it was his birthday TOO.....what a coincidence so then we all headed outside to take yet another picture next to the motorcycle (we figured that 3 was already too many to fit). You can tell that I am getting old because I was soooo tired that I did not even make it to midnight and I was home and in bed by 11pm!

So today to celebrate my birthday we went to Dennis and Diane's to pick up Trevor and Diane made us swedish pancakes (I will have another post to comment on that). When then headed back to Brookings to take a nap and clean up after the party. When we were all rested we headed to the pool to celebrate the rest of the afternoon away.....it was so much fun to hang out with my two favorite boys!! When we came home Trevor gave me a present which was a glass picture frame with mom on it and nice words of wisdom with his picture in it. Then him & Jon gave me a card and it said "On your birthday I'd like to give you the world....but my heart will have to do." This made me cry because it was so precious!!! Overall it was a great day, thank you Jon and Trevor for making it special.

Our 3 Year Wedding Anniversary!

Today marks the spot of our 3 year wedding anniversary!!! I know that I do not even have to say this but it does not even seem like that long. All and all we have been together 7 years......holy smokes that is a long time. I do not even know where to start in this post because there is so much to say. Jon and I have been through more then most couples when it comes to experiences. After dating for 3 years and moving into an apartment together, Jon graduating from SDSU and getting a great job at Waltz he gets his orders to go over seas......this threw a huge black spot over everything. Right then and there you think about all the things you are thankful for and pray to god that the man that you love comes back home safely. With the help of family and friends we made it through 18 months of being separated. Jon was only gone over seas for a couple months when he had his week to come back and see family and that is when he proposed and said that he wanted to be with me forever. The wedding date was set for June because his unit was due to come home in April. As the months moved on things did not work out the way we had planned, he had received his orders to stay until August.....at this point there were knots in our stomach wondering what to do. With the help of some higher ups Jon was able to come home for a 3 week leave so we could get married on June 5th 2004. Jon flew home a week before the wedding and we were all at the airport to welcome him home as he walked down the escalator in his national guard uniform. We had signs and the whole works and even the KELO-LAND news crew was there to do a story on us. (I have a copy of that in case anyone has not seen it) The wedding went off with no problems at all, with over 400 guests, our family and friends it was a great reunion to see everyone again. Two days later Jon and I headed to Minneapolis to fly down to the Bahamas where we took our honeymoon. We stayed at Sandals Resort for 7 days and enjoyed every minute of it. The worst part about this whole situation was that after we got back from the Bahamas it was time for Jon to head back over seas to finish his duty. Let me tell you that was one of the hardest good bye's we have ever had to do. Two months had gone by and Jon came home for good....I still remember that day in Sisseton, it was foggy as ever and here comes the buses rolling through the fog with our soldiers on it.....it was nice to see him again because this time I knew he would not have to go back again. One month after that we knew what we both wanted and we had decided to start a family.....at this point we felt we had missed out on so much so we did not want to waste another minute. We got pregnant with Trevor in September and he was born June 21 2005. We spent the next year raising Trevor and experiencing life as parents. Now Trevor will be 2 in just a couple of weeks and the rest seems like it has happened yesterday. It has been a great 3 years and I look forward to spending many more years together, Happy Anniversary Jon!!
Sorry some of the pictures did not turn out that well, I got into a fight with the scanner!

A gift to ME

As most of you may know I am a golf addict!! This year I have decided to treat myself to a new driver. Jon's uncle Steve has a friend in Lennox who builds custom made clubs to fit you and that is just what I had him do. All he needed to know was my height so the shaft could be made accordingly. Well the head of the club is a knock off of the new Taylor Made Driver which is over $500 in a golf store but I got it for $160....that is a deal if you ask me. They even personalized it with a Taylor Made graphite shaft...it is SWEET!! I am very excited about this because Jon is the one that always gets new golf equipment, 2 years ago we got him a whole new set, then last spring out neighbor sold him a R7 driver and then he got a new wedge. Me on the other hand has had the same set of clubs since my dad bought them for me in high school. The picture above is of my old driver (on the left) and my new driver (on the right). Can you tell the difference in size? Last night we went golfing, it was my first time all year and man was I pumped. The first couple of holes were rough just trying to get back into the swing of things but let me tell you after that it was SWEET!!! I love this new driver, just the sound it makes when I connect with the ball gives me chills. My old driver was small so it did not make a huge sound when I teed off but that is not the case with my new one, it makes a ping sound. The funny part of the whole story is that Jon was sucking bad with his driver last night so I told him to hit with mine for a couple of holes.....he hit the ball straight down the fairway every time with mine he could not believe it. I am telling you this club is magical!

Hawaii

Well today at work I had to pick a destination meal before our Spring Break started and I decided to visit Hawaii. I required all my employees to wear something Hawaiian to celebrate the themed meal. I had to make the menu for the event and this is what I came up with: Honey Peppered Salmon, Beef and Pineapple Kabobs, Carved Ham with Pineapple Glaze and tons of Hawaiian sides. Unfortunately the weather was not willing to cooperate with us since another really bad storm has hit us. Yesterday campus called off classes at 5pm and they are debating what to do today since the wind is supposed to blow gusts of up to 50mph today, yikes! So the picture is of half of my employees and myself, the other half are stranded at home which makes for a very crazy day and I am sure tomorrow will be the same thing. I hope you all stay safe and warm today & enjoy the snow!

Thanks for visiting Healy Happenings and come back soon!
