Anyone else sick of winter???? A couple of days ago our yard looked great, we mowed up all the dead stuff and got 4 bags of crap our yard was turning green. Now look!
On a side note we have lots of dead animals in our freezer and I told Jon we better find recipes to start making things or we are going to end up throwing it all away, tonight we made cream pheasant and it was very good!!!
When we bought our house it was considered a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom home with a bonus room in the basement. Now that we are remodeling the basement we put a legal window in the bonus room downstairs to make it a legal 4th bedroom. The room downstairs will be our new office when things are said and done but we are just excited (or Jon is) that the window is in and that is one less thing we can mark off our to do list. Next is sheetrock and paint, we are getting closer!!
Have I mentioned lately how much my husband rocks at this stuff?? Can you imagine digging the hole by hand, I felt sorry for him.
This week at school Trevor was picked for Star of the Week! He filled out a sheet with questions on it about himself and then sent lots of pictures with and it was displayed on the bulletin board. Some of the questions where:

Some of you may know that the SDSU girls basketball team has won the Summit League and got a spot in the NCAA (for the first time in history)with their first game being last Sunday when they played TCU. Well they not only won that game but they tied a record that was set by Harvard in 1996 for 16 3-pointers in one game. Tonight they play again against Baylor at 8:30pm on ESPN........if you have ESPN you should watch it because it is going to be a huge game! SDSU is #7 and Baylor is #2, the game is so big that the President has canceled everything for today including a big dinner he had with us tonight to fly down to Texas to watch the game. Go Jacks!!
February and March are full of birthday's for Jon's side of the family. This past weekend we went to Webster on Friday to celebrate his grandma Dottie's birthday and his dad's birthday. We met in Webster for dinner and then Jennifer brought a cake for dessert, Trevor was all about putting the candles on the cake. Then we spent the evening and Saturday in Langford seeing most of his other relatives then we came home on Saturday night.
Here are some pictures but I think I am slipping because they are not very good.
This year I was asked again to be a judge at the high school for the Pro Start team. It is kind of like the show Top Chef where they have a certain amount of time to get their meal done and then we judge them on performance, appearance and taste. It took about 2 hours and was lots of fun, this year I took my camera with to capture some moments. They compete on Tuesday in Mitchell for State, last year they won it so I hope the same happens this year. Our chef here at SDSU has been their mentor this whole year and has done a great job with them.
Here are some pictures of them prepping and actually making the meal.
Then the finished product!
This was the appetizer, salmon wrapped in baked walleye with a light salad with spicy sauce in the middle.
The entree was grilled buffalo and pheasant with berry sauce served with brown sugar potatoes and spinach.
Finally the dessert was cream de cacao with homemade chocolate mousse.
Not to mention the food was awesome!!
Well actually it is the same room he has always had just different furniture. We took out the crib/toddler bed and 2 dressers and got him 2 new dressers, head board and full size bed. He loves his new room and has yet to fall out of his bed.
BEFORE:
AFTER
I have never painted any type of furniture before and did not really seem like much of a fan but 2 weeks ago we did. We have been trying to find a new bed and dressers for Trevor, well we have a full size bed so we gave him that and my brother actually had 2 dressers and a head board that he said we could have. To me it was not the nicest looking pieces but we took the hardware off and sanded everything down and thought we would give it a try. My brother helped us spray paint everything white then we took them home seal coated them and brush painted the final layer on. With some new hardware they turned out really good and now Trevor has a room full of new furniture and nice big bed!
This is before:
This is after:
I will post pictures of his new room tomorrow!
This week at Trevor's school they are learning all about the letter "T". To him it is the greatest thing in the world because T means Trevor, as he would say. So today they had a toast and tea party for the kids and their parents from 8:30-9:00. I went with Trevor and he was so excited that I could stay longer then just dropping him off. When we first got there his teacher gave him a big huge and then he was off showing me all the new fun toys (all the toys change every week). This week in the sensory table it was teal sand with treasure in it and he was just in heaven. So we made our way over to get some toast and juice (tea) and the teacher said he could eat anywhere in the room so Trevor picked over by the tool table. Imagine that!!! Here he is while eating toast playing with the tool set:
Then before it was time for all the parents to leave the kids got in a circle and sang us "I am a little tea pot" it was very cute and just to note that Trevor had that drill in his hands the whole time!!!
Today we had our 20 week appointment and things went awesome!! The babies heart beat was 145, my blood pressure and weight where all really good. We also got to have another ultrasound and yes we found out what are having but are going to keep it a secret, so mom you can contine to read. We where in the ultrasound room for 30 minutes because the baby was on the move, it was kicking and squirming all around so it was hard for the doctor to get all the measurments. The one thing she noticed was the legs are very long, so that is kind of interesting. We did get one picture and it is not very good but I will post it anyway, it is of the back (spine) and the head.
Enjoy!
Today is my wonderful husband's birthday!!!!! Trevor went into the bedroom this morning and sang him the whole birthday song and ended it with "daddy I am so happy that you are 48!!"
I wanted to post a picture of Jon that really shows his true character and I found just the one........
Polish Days 2008.....that should explain everything!
An interesting factoid for you!! Tonight is the 5000 episode of Wheel of Fortune which means they have been on the air for 26 years! The most interesting part is that Vanna has never worn the same dress twice, which means 5000 dresses!!
I have not had much to say this past week, it has been a quiet one at our house for once other then working on our downstairs project.
Saturday Jon and Trevor worked in the downstairs bathroom removing all the tile out of the shower (it was pretty pink). So other then putting in a legal size window in the bedroom downstairs we are all done with demolition, now we just have to put things back together. Jon started on Sunday while Trevor and I ran to Brandon for my cousin's daughter's baptism. When we got home he had a lot done now he is going to start on all the wiring.
We are getting closer!
Thanks for visiting Healy Happenings and come back soon!
