Wallpaper

So how many people have had to take down wallpaper before?? Let me tell you it is not a fun job to do! We have started phase 2 at our house which is the basement.....it is all finished with new carpet it just needs some updating and love. The living room has wallpaper border so I am trying to get it off so I can start to paint and then we can move furniture in.

Well the purpose of this post is to talk about wallpaper. I have never really had to deal with it except for when I put it up but never have had to take it down. I am more of a person who likes to experiment with different ingredients to get it to come off rather then spending $50 at the store. So my mom told me the recipe she used and it is a spray bottle with water and fabric softener in it. Spray it on heavy and scrap or peel off. Guess what??? It worked, thanks mom! Not only did it work but the room smells good while I am working. The other recipe I know of is something with vinegar....yuck just the smell would make me pass out.

More curious then anything but how many other techniques are out there? Do you know of any?

Forward

I got these forward this morning and it really made me laugh so I thought I would share. Have a good day!

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2007 when...

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3

4.You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses .

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8.Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13.Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

AND NOW U R LAUGHING at yourself.

Tastefully Simple

Well last night I attended a Tastefully Simple party and it was interesting for me because I have never been to one before. I hate going to things like where they talk non-stop forever about this and that and how there product is so good. I am the kind of person who needs to see these products and in a case like this taste them and not listen to why this or that is the best.

It was a nice set-up you came in and just went right to the kitchen and there was a nice display of different things to try. The hostess also gave you a catalog to look in while you where sampling so you could see the different prices. Overall most everything I tried was really good except for the garlic garlic dip....YUCK. I did manage to order some things to try so family members watch out that is what I will be making for Christmas. Diane & Mert you will be my official taste tester because you are one who likes to do that kind of thing.

Thanksgiving Crazy Weekend

Well with everything that has happened over the past 6 days I am not even sure where to start. First of all I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought a new card reader so you all can enjoy the weekend in pictures. So here is goes!!

Wednesday night we let for Langford because it was Blair and Yvonne's 25th Wedding Anniversary party. It was nice to see everyone again since the last time we at the lake. Even though it was a great time I headed to bed early with Trevor because I knew we had a big weekend to get through so not a lot of excitement for me.

Thursday we woke up and headed to Aberdeen for Thanksgiving at Reed and Deanna's. Minutes after we drove into the driveway Trevor spotted some of Reed's big equipment (2 big dozers) we went into the house to say HI to everyone but Trevor did not stay long because him and dad headed out to see the big machines. We finally got him to come inside to eat a huge Thanksgiving meal (Deanna it was awesome) we had the whole traditional meal....very yummy! Then Trevor found a new friend to play with, Sara! They played on the floor for a long time and then it was out to see all the big machines I have tons of pictures so I hope you enjoy them. Then around supper time we headed to Roslyn to see grandma Dottie and the Mydland side and then had supper with them. By this time I was stuffed and very miserable! After visiting we let Trevor in Roslyn with grandma and grandpa and Jon, Jack and I headed back to Langford to Eclipse and some drinking.....it was a great time!!

Friday of course was black Friday so we where up and at it and off to Aberdeen to do some shopping. In the meantime we decided to leave Trevor with Jon because they where going pheasant hunting. Thinking they would quit early and all take naps well I was wrong!! Trevor was a rockstar and hunted all day long. He never complained once and when they would shoot a pheasant he would run and get it and bring it back to the truck. I myself am very shocked, I took pictures to prove it. Did I mention he went without a nap, this is a big deal for him. If you ask him what he did for Thanksgiving he will say "I went hunting with my daddy".

Saturday we headed home and decided to stop in Hendricks because Santa was going to be there but when we pulled into town they were starting the fish house parade......yes that is right a fish house parade. Trevor quickly got out of the car and rode with my dad in his pick-up, Greg had his fish house and Danny was pulling Jon's. So we ended up staying in Hendricks until 5pm and then headed home and spent all of Sunday just relaxing from our wild and crazy weekend.

I also wanted to show this picture because it cracks me up!~ This was Trevor on Saturday when we got home, this is what he did the rest of the night he did not move!!

Robbed

Well I would of loved to of posted all about our Thanksgiving weekend today but I came into work today and found out that I had been robbed over the weekend. The C-Store and the new Java City both had money taken from and my digital camera card reader was taken so I can not post any pictures and what fun is a post without pictures. I have been talking with the cops and detectives all morning and they did some finger print testing so we will see what happens. Sorry for the delay but I will try and post some pictures for tomorrow's post.

Another Trevor Moment

Alright so yesterday when I picked Trevor up from daycare his daycare provider looked at me and just started laughing. I said what is so funny and she said "oh Trevor just had another one of his moments" I said what does that mean and this is how she replied:

Darlene was changing Carly's diaper (Carly is a little girl at daycare who is 1)

Trevor: Darlene where is Carly's wiener?
Darlene: What did you say?
Trevor: Where is Carly's wiener?
Darlene: Carly does not have a wiener she is a girl.
Trevor: Why not she has a butt like me?

Trevor you gotta love him because he is so curious.

Trevor & Mommy Weekend

Well this past weekend Jon went hunting again! Thank goodness it is the last weekend of planned hunting we have not see him for a long time on a weekend. When I talked with him last night it sounded like they had not done too bad, they had 13 tags to fill and I think 7 of them were filled. (Amber 2 you and Corey can have most of it if you ask me) Saturday I worked at the SDSU NDSU Football game, it was the biggest game of the season 16,400 people and YES we won it was an awesome game!! So Trevor spent the day at grandma and grandpa Healy's house (thank you) and we all met for supper Saturday night.
So Sunday was a day for Trevor and mommy and we went to Sioux Falls and went shopping and met up with our old neighbor's Trish and Logan and had dinner together. We had a great time it was nice to see them again. Trevor and Logan were not sure what to think of each other right away but after a while they played good together. Jon is coming home today so we will see what creatures he brings home, last night when he called he told me to turn on the big freezer.....oh god.

Petting Zoo

So yesterday one of my students at work told me about the Horse Club Community Service night which was last night. Each year they have to do some kind of community service project and for the past 2 years they have set up a petting zoo at the Animal Science Arena here at SDSU. Anyone who wants to come has to bring items for the food shelf and then you can spend all the time you want with the animals. So last night we thought we would go and see what it was all about. Trevor had a great time!! They had tons of animals there to look at such as different kinds of horses, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits and many more. We spent about an hour walking around looking at all of them and then came the fun part. They were offering horse rides and Trevor said "daddy I want to do that" Jon looked at me and was like well what do you think? I thought for sure we would stand in line and then get up there and he would not do it but man was I wrong. The whole time he was like "we are almost there, it is almost my turn" when we got up there he put his helmet right on and got right up on the horse. He was a rockstar!!!! He smiled the whole time, loving every minute of it. They go around the arena twice and then give the next kid a turn and Trevor said to the lady "can I go again" and she said no we have to give the other little kids a turn, Trevor looked at her again and said "please". But it did not work I just thought it was cute he is working his charm at the age of 2. Overall we had a great time and we will have to go back next year!!

Likes and Dislikes

Well we have now been in our new house for 3 weeks and I have developed a list of likes and dislikes. First I will start with the dislikes:

  1. Hardwood floor is very noisy to walk on compared to carpet
  2. Garage not attached to the house but very close
  3. Being able to hear the train go through town (although Trevor loves it, he goes nuts)
  4. Old dishwasher is very noisy (I can eventually fix this)

Now I will move to the likes:

  1. Love the central location (blocks away from Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart)
  2. Love our long driveway--our old house did not have much of a driveway and was right in front of the house, I hated that
  3. Love the mailbox attached to the house (very convenient)
  4. Love 3 bedrooms on the ML
  5. Love the sliding closet doors as opposed to the bi-fold doors
  6. Love the hardwood floors, much more easier to clean and then I suddenly realized how dirty carpet actually gets....YUCK
  7. Love the pantry in our kitchen.....do you know how much stuff you can fit into a pantry?
  8. Love that our back door comes into our kitchen. We have never had a back door just a front entry.
  9. Love the small heat and utility bill
  10. Love that the laundry room is downstairs otherwise it gets too noisy
  11. Love having a medicine cabinet....we have never had one of these (very convenient to keep Trevor out of)
  12. Love all the closet space.....our last house being new construction did not any closet space this house has tons! Who would of thought?
  13. Love having a back yard and a front yard.....our last house the back yard was soooo small
  14. Love having bushes so our yard is private and not wide open like our last house
  15. Love having a storage shed
  16. Love having 2 garage doors and not just one

I could keep going on about the positives but I am sure you would all get very bord. As you can see my likes out weight the dislikes by a long shot, we LOVE our new home! I can not wait to decorate with Christmas lights, Jon has already commented on this. Our last house was impossible to put lights on being so high but now it will be no problem.

Long Weekend

Well I hope everyone had a nice long 3 day weekend if you got yesterday off. I did not so if you are one that did I sure hope you enjoyed this nice weather we have been having. I still can not believe that it has been in the higher 50's and it is mid November that is crazy.

My 3 day weekend was filled with work! But I did manage to spend some time outside with Trevor and Jon. Sunday afternoon we spent some time raking leaves and Trevor had more fun jumping the big pile. He really started showing off when grandma and grandpa Healy showed up to take us to dinner Sunday night. Here are some pictures I took of the little squirt!

Yep he is under all those leaves

Grape Salad

Being in the position I am in at work I come across about 2-3 new recipes a day. I am always looking for something new to try so I told my salad lady when she comes across a new recipe to let me know. Well she made one the other day and I LOVED IT! I know that a lot of people might not like this certain one because it is very sweet but very good. The other night when I made it Trevor was all about helping so as you can see he read me the recipe and I added the ingredients!

1-8oz Cream Cheese---softened
1-Cup (8oz) Sour Cream
1/3 Cup Sugar
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
2 Pounds Seedless Green Grapes
2 Pounds Seedless Red Grapes
3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
3 Tablespoons Chopped Pecans

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla extract until blended. Add grapes and toss to coat. Transfer to a serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans just before serving. Yield 21-24 Servings

Unless you are cooking for an army you will have to cut the recipe in half and when I made it I added just a little more sugar, they say you add to taste because some people might like it sweeter.

This just may be a recipe I will bring to Thanksgiving dinner??

AC Ellis

Most of you are probably wondering what AC Ellis is?? Well she is a photographer here in town and on Halloween she had free pictures from 5-7pm so I decided to take Trevor. Well today she posted the pictures on her blog: http://www.acellisblog.com/ one you open up this page just keep scrolling down and you will find the Halloween pictures. The funny part of this whole thing is that she dressed up her son up in the exact same costume as Trevor. I told her great minds must think alike. She did a really good job with Trevor and I really like the way she does things so we have picked her to do our family photo for our Christmas cards this year. Next Monday we will be smiling pretty!!

The Story Behind This Picture

Alright so for Halloween once Trevor got his costume on he would not let me take any pictures. He would refuse and just walk away and you know me I need pictures of everything so this made me mad. So I thought well once Jon gets home he can distract him and I will be able to get some pictures, well this did not happen. Although I did get one good picture of my boys and I love it so much I set it as my screen saver on my computer at work. The funny part to all of this is you are probably wondering why Trevor looks like he is trying to grab something, well you are right he is!! I held a candy bar and said "Trevor look at what mommy has" and this was the only way I could get a somewhat decent picture. And every time I look at it I start laughing all over again because I know what is really going on behind the scenes.

Hunting

Well this weekend was all about hunting for Jon. He left Friday evening and headed to Ivanhoe and hunted all weekend and they ended up filling 4 out of 5 tags which is pretty good. Trevor and I on the other hand had a weekend to ourselves. Friday we went to Toronto for supper and Trevor spent most of his time with great grandpa Kenny playing games.
Then Saturday night I headed to the Brick to meet the hunters for supper which was a fun time, it was nice to see everyone again. And Sunday was a day for relaxing and that is just what we did!

Thanks Jennifer!

After reading Jennifer's blog it almost made me cry. I can not believe how big Trevor is getting. I see him everyday so it does not seem like that much of a change until I see a picture of a year or two ago.

Here are the last 3 year's of Halloween pictures!

Yeah it's Friday

Is everyone glad it is Friday?? Well I know I am! I have nothing at all planned for this weekend....finally. I will finish unpacking boxes and continue to throw more crap away, half of the time I wonder "why the heck did I buy that"? I just might rake some leaves into Marilyn's yard on Saturday but we will see what happens and how much time I have!!

Jon on the other hand has a fun filled weekend planned or so he thinks. This weekend is the first weekend of Minnesota Deer Hunting....YUCK. He leaves tonight for Ivanhoe for the weekend and will come home later Sunday evening.

Diane, Bonnie and Grandma Mydland have fun shopping in the Cities!!

Trick-or-Treat Fun

Well Jon and I had a great time last night with our little dragon!! First I got home and put Trevor's costume on and he was so mad at me because he wanted it off now!! Once I got him distracted things went a little better. We first stopped at Dakota Bank to see Kelsi and she gave him lots of candy and big cookie. Then we saw uncle Greg and then we went to AC Ellis to get his picture taken. She will post the pictures on her website and I will let everyone know when that happens. Then Jon got home and we went to Ivanhoe to see grandma and grandpa Healy, then to Hendricks to grandma and grandpa Pearson and then to great grandma and grandpa Pearson's house....geeez it was a busy night. Trevor ate way to much candy but overall had a great time! Enjoy all the pictures!!

Thanks for visiting Healy Happenings and come back soon!
