A Fun Night

Well last night we traveled to Madison to visit the Rost Family. We all ate pizza and then Jon and Corey sighted in their guns and then saved money (as they call it) by filling there own bullets. Anyways so Amber 2 and I took the kids to the park and after they played for a while we went to another park. Then we jumped on the trampoline and then played on the slides, it was a night filled with excitement! Trevor and Raena get along really well together so it made it fun to watch them play so good together.

Then I went through Amber's purse collection (she sells purses now) and found myself tons that I loved and settled on a green one....I love it!! I can not wait to go back and buy more, call her if you want to book a party!! Thanks for a great time Rost Family!!

Open House

Well tonight we are having another Open House on my brother's house...everyone cross their fingers! The last one went really good with 8 different couples that attended. Last weekend we also had a great showing by a couple who are moving here from Colorado. They looked at it Friday night and 3 TIMES on Sunday......you think they would write an offer soon. I also just found out they are going through again tonight and they are 99% sure that they want it but one more look to be sure. Do you know what this means??? Jon and I better find a house and soon!!

The Shrine Parade

Well this post is mainly for Amber 2 because she had asked for pictures of Jon with his Shrine hat and everything one and this is as close as I could come. During his trip to Wisconsin they were in parades and in the one he was asked to drive a plane in the parade and so he did. They told him not to get to close to a building or cars because the wing would catch and the plane would tip over but he got too excited and caught up in the moment and got a wing caught and he tipped the plane over. So he got off it leaned it back up and went on his way again. I hope you enjoy the pictures. (Pictures are compliments of Diane Healy)

It's A Boy

Well it's another boy for the Sheik family!! Randy and Jessica Sheik had another baby boy on Sunday morning at 10am. His name is Easton Allen Sheik, he weighed 7.8lbs and was 20 inches long. We went to see them both last night because they are in the Brookings hospital and they are both doing great. They get to come home today and Jess was really excited about that. When we walked in Trevor was the first one to go running over to the baby and say "me hold the baby" it was pretty cute. Peyton was also a big helper and was also really excited. Congratulations to the whole family! Here is another picture with Peyton hugging the baby!

Another weekend gone by

Well it is yet another weekend come and gone already. Ours was pretty boring other then Jon coming home!!

Friday: Trevor and I headed out to eat with my mom, dad, Greg, Kelsi and my grandma and grandpa. Since we do not go out to eat at Toronto anymore on Friday's we have found a new place. Mom and dad have been going there for a while so I thought it was time I tried it. It is called the State Line Bar and Grill and it was really good food. I told Jon we will have to take him there next. So that's about all we did Friday and then we headed back to Brookings so Trevor could go to bed.

Saturday: We hung out all morning watching TV and playing trucks, then Trevor took his nap and when he woke up we headed to Hendricks since my mom and dad were going to keep him overnight so I could go to my friend's brother's wedding. When we got to Hendricks mom gave Trevor a present and it was a new pair of work boots just like grandpa Dirk and uncle Greg. Man did he think he was cool!! After his boots were on we went down to the new shed were my dad and Greg were putting up the new doors and so Trevor got right in and helped. Then he would go and move dirt with his loader that we brought down for him to play with. By the end of the night he was really dirty!! Saturday night Jon came home from Wisconsin so then we headed out to the wedding dance at the Swiftel Center, Travis Pavek (Dianna's brother) and Katie Leuning got married. It was a good time but the dance only lasted until 11pm so then Jon and I headed down town to have a few more drinks.
Sunday: Was all about relaxing and playing trucks!! We headed to Hendricks to pick up Trevor and the only way he would come home was if we could bring grandma Judy's trucks and tractors home and so we did!! She has a huge basket with tractors, trucks and cars in it and the minute he gets to there house he runs for the basket. So when we got home he dumped them all out and played for the rest of the day while Jon and I watched movies.

Favorite Photo Friday

I wanted to share this photo because it is so cute. The other night we decided to go for a ride in my brother's scout because it was so nice out and it just cracked me up because we had to put Trevor in the front seat with his car seat because there were no seat belts in the back. He thought this was the best thing ever, he said "mom, dad and I got for a ride". So this means I sat in the back and listened to there conversation the whole time. What a daddy's boy!!

Healy's Hot Stuff

Alright so every year at Polish Days they have a chili cook off and Dennis has done this every year and let me tell you he is not kidding when he says "Healy's Hot Stuff". Friday when we got there he was cooking the chili on the stove and when I picked up the cover to take a look my nose started to burn and I could smell it on my hand after. This year since Jennifer was home she wanted to help Dennis and of course so did Trevor. Diane just e-mailed me this picture and as soon as I saw it just cracked me up because Jennifer is all serious and showing off the sign and Trevor and Dennis are having there own little conversation on the side!! Very Cute!

Polish Days & HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JENNIFER!

Well it was another fun Polish Day's weekend!! Not only was it Polish Day's but it was also my 6 year class reunion. Why 6 year you ask? Well no one did anything for our 5 year and so I decided to put together a small and informal 6 year during Polish Day's because that is when most of my class mates are home. Overall we had a good turn out, there was over half the class there and that is good if you ask me. It was great to see everyone again and catch-up!!

To also add more to the weekend Jennifer was home to celebrate the weekend with us. AND today is her BIRTHDAY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNIFER!! We had a great time with you this weekend and I think Jon and I both lost some pounds from laughing all weekend!

It is very sad to know that another Polish Days is gone but this means more stories to add to the book. I made a slide show of the whole weekend and there are pictures of my reunion, a gravel pile full of money that Trevor and some other kids played in and family. So enjoy and HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN JENNIFER!

The Side Project

This post I am going to brag about my husband. For the last 3 weekends Jon has been working on a side project for our daycare lady. She wanted Jon to build a built-in entertainment center at her house. Jon looked things over and said he would do it. So I took a before and after picture and I think you will also think he did a great job!! I have known Jon for several years and each day he suprises me with his hidden talents. Jon could build anything anywhere if you wanted him too, he is a very handy man. Check out the project!! Sorry the before picture is not that great.

Fun at Gigglebee's

Tuesday night Ryan & Kellee Sheik called us and wanted us to meet them in Sioux Falls so we could take the kids to Gigglebee's. They are home for Polish Days this weekend and were staying at Ron and Lucy's house until today. So last night we drove down and had a great time, Kellee's parents were there along with Ron and Lucy!! Not only did Trevor and Kaden have fun but so did the adults. After filling up on pizza and holding the kids down to eat it was time to play games. Believe it or not Trevor was more concerned about the "bunny" the raccoon that drives around and delivers your pizza. But once we showed him the games there was no stopping him. He had a great time and did not want to leave. Once the boys had there fun the adults decided to play laser tag in the basement, Ryan and Kellee had done this before and said it was fun so we thought we would give it a try and it was awesome!! You paid $4 and you got to play for 10 minutes so Jon, Ryan, Kellee and Kellee's brother and I played. It was tons of fun but by the time we were done we knew we were getting old because all of us were really sweating! Then we went to Ron and Lucy's house and played bean bags and had a few beers!! It was a great time and thanks Ryan and Kellee for inviting us!

Trevor loved playing in the cage full of balls (can you tell?)

Kaden does not know what to think of me

Once Trevor got in there was no way he wanted to come out

The dad's teaching their son's how to drive a motorcycle

Isn't Gigglebee's for little boys that want to play games?

The Sioux Empire Fair

Yes it is that time of year again for the Sioux Empire Fair in Sioux Falls. The fair opened on Tuesday at noon and so I decided to take Trevor Tuesday afternoon and my mom rode with us. We had a blast, this was Trevor's first experience ever being at a fair and he loved it. Even though it was boiling hot it did not matter to Trevor because he got to see tons of animals, ride on fun rides and eat lots of junk food. We were there 3 long hours and got so much accomplished. We visited the 4-H animal barns and rode on lots of fun rides (Trevor went on them all by himself, I was told to say off). Can you imagine that I took lots of pictures for everyone to see!!
Looking at all the rabbits

Petting the cow

Reaching in the kennel to pet the puppy

Standing on the fence to get a good look at the piglets

Having a boring ride on the train because it does not go fast enough

Fishing with grandma

Finally a ride I like!

Happy Birthday Joel & Jerett

Well Sunday afternoon we went to Joel and Jerett's birthday party and we had a blast!! Joel just turned 7 and Jerett just turned 5. They had tons of fun things for kids to do like 2 water slides and a big bouncy thing to jump in. I have known Jeremy & Marty for 5 years now and have loved every minute of being there friends. I first met Jeremy & Marty when they took over the fireside in the Staurolite Inn and I worked at the front desk. I started as there babysitter right when Jerett was born and then we found out that we all have the SAME birthday (Marty, Jeremy and ME) they had to show me there driver's license to prove it. And then we found out we had soo much in common and always had a good time together. When Jon was over sea's Jeremy and Marty were my family in Brookings and helped me get through all the hard times, without them around keeping me busy it would of been hard to go through. Here we are today 5 years later and we are all still great friends.
Thanks for a great time at the party and Happy Birthday Boys!!

Juror Summons

Most people always think few certain things will ever happen to them. For example our accounts payable lady at work has been summons THREE times to appear in court as a juror. To me that is crazy but I guess some people have luck of the draw, the reason I say this is because that same lady also won $50,000 last year on a powerball ticket for matching all the numbers except the powerball and then she also power played in and the number was 5 so you take $10,000 times 5 = $50,000.

The moral of my story is that last night when I got home I opened up the mailbox and found something I did not ever think that I would find......a Juror Summons to ME!!! They sent me a form to fill out and asked me a million questions and said once I filled this sheet out and sent it back in they would let me know if I was the one that they had chosen. EVERYONE better cross there fingers and hope that I am one that does not get picked. I do not mean this in a bad way because yes I am a registered voter it is just that IF I get called it will be from 10/1/07 - 12/31/07 if the trial lasts that long. And also some of the cases around here are disturbing, like a babysitter who hurts little kids or a young boy who seriously hurt his mom. I do not want to be the one to decide what should happen to that person in the next month or year. Do you know what I mean??

Myth Busters about Coffee

Alright so the last three days I have been at a coffee training for managers. A rep from Java City came to SDSU along with manager's from other accounts and we were all filled in on how to do thing's for the fall and how some things would be different. (Since we all run Java Cities) I do not know that much about coffee but I did learn a few things that I always thought were true but I have come to find out that they are just myth busters. So for some common knowledge here we go:

Myth Buster #1: The darker the coffee the less caffeine it has in it. I had always heard that it was the other way around. If someone is tired generally they say give me the darkest cup of coffee that you make, thinking that it is loaded with caffeine but come to find out that is not the case!

Myth Buster #2: Never store coffee in a fridge or freezer because it loses its flavor quickly and becomes stale because of the temperature change. Now this I know that I have heard from more then one person, well I guess they were wrong!

Information Tidbit: Brazil is the largest producer of coffee in the world! They produce 38 million bags of coffee a year on 230,000 farms.....holy smokes that is a lot of coffee!!

I hope all of this was informative!

A Fresh Start

Well my brother listed his house 5 months ago with Century 21 and houses in his price range take longer to sell because the buyer is very picky and a lot of people could build a house for this price. Anyways in those 5 months the realtor that he had was awful! He did not do anything for marketing such as only posting 7 pictures on-line instead of 40 or more (this is the way it should be done, I used to work at Best Choice and I was told the more pictures the better because then people looking at homes on-line got a better feel for the home and could decided yes I would like to look at it in person or no this home would not suit me and I will not waste my agents time to look at the home in person) and in those 5 months he only had 2 open houses and there should of been at least 5 (one per month). So as time went on nothing got done so Greg's contract was up with them and I talked him into switching to the BEST which is Best Choice Real Estate (the one I used to work for). So his house is getting a fresh new start with a different price, tons of pictures that are going to be put on the website on Friday and a virtual tour!! I talked him into listing it with the agent we are working with so I helped her take the photos and get information on the house it was fun and it made me realize how much I missed my old job. Check out his home with a fresh new start on Friday at http://www.brookingshomes.com/ and let me know what you think. (1834 Ranger Circle) I just love real estate it is so exciting and there are soo many cool houses in Brookings!!

Thanks for visiting Healy Happenings and come back soon!
